Metal Shear Financing

Metal Fabrication, Welding & Machine Shops › Shears

A shear cuts sheet metal and plate to size with a straight, square, burr-free edge, ready for bending, punching and welding. Since 2011, Sunset Financial Group has financed more than 150 metal shears, from 52-inch foot shears for HVAC shops to 12-foot hydraulic plate shears for fabrication shops.

Roofing and siding contractors, HVAC and sheet metal shops, sign makers and welding shops are our most frequent shear customers. Many finance a shear together with a brake or folder in one agreement.

Shears We Finance

Hydraulic Guillotine Shears

Variable rake-angle hydraulic shears cut sheet and plate cleanly with minimal twist and bow, and handle mild steel, stainless and aluminum.

Hydraulic Swing-Beam Shears

A simple, rugged design for general fabrication, cutting sheet and light plate to size at a lower price than a guillotine.

Electric Power Shears

Electric squaring shears for sheet metal up to 14 or 10 gauge, popular with roofing, HVAC and sign shops.

Mechanical Shears

Flywheel-driven shears deliver fast cycle times for high-volume sheet cutting.

Foot & Manual Shears

Foot-operated and manual shears for light-gauge trim, flashing and duct work.

Used Shears

Shears are long-lived machines. We finance used shears from dealers, auctions and private sellers.

Sizes We Have Financed

Light Gauge

4 to 10 feet, 16 gauge and lighter

Foot and light power shears for HVAC, duct, trim and flashing work.

Sheet Metal

10 feet, 14 to 10 gauge

The most common size we finance. Electric and hydraulic power shears with powered back gauges.

Plate

10 to 12 feet, 1/4 inch and up

Hydraulic guillotine shears for fabrication shops cutting plate and heavier parts.

Shears we have financed range from about $8,000 for a single-phase 5-foot shear to more than $130,000 for a shear and folder or press brake package.

Finance the Whole Setup

A shear works best as part of a complete cutting and forming setup. These can all be included in the same agreement:

  • Powered and CNC back gauges
  • Front support arms and squaring arms
  • Spare and replacement blades
  • Press brakes, folders and box and pan brakes
  • Material carts and sheet handling
  • Freight, rigging and installation

Why Shops Add a Shear

Cut Blanks In-House

Shops that buy pre-cut blanks or cut sheet with a saw or plasma save material, time and money with their own shear.

Square, Accurate Parts

A shear with a back gauge cuts identical parts to size every time, so bending and welding go faster.

Pair It With a Brake

A shear and a press brake or folder together let a shop go from flat stock to finished part without sending work out.
