Ironworker Financing
Metal Fabrication, Welding & Machine Shops › Ironworkers
An ironworker punches, shears, notches and bends steel in one machine, which is why it is often the first big purchase for a welding or fabrication shop. Since 2011, Sunset Financial Group has financed more than 200 ironworkers, from 45-ton single-phase machines for two-person shops to 150-ton dual-operator units for structural steel fabricators.
If your shop is still cutting angle with a saw and drilling every hole by hand, an ironworker can do that work in a fraction of the time. We finance the machine, the tooling and the attachments in one agreement.
Ironworkers We Finance
Hydraulic Ironworkers
The most common type we finance. A single hydraulic cylinder powers punch, shear, notch and bar-cutting stations, with the tonnage to punch thick plate and angle cleanly.
Dual-Operator Ironworkers
Two independent work stations let two people punch and shear at the same time, doubling output for structural steel and high-volume fabrication.
Single-Phase Ironworkers
Machines from 45 to 100 tons built to run on single-phase power, so a small shop or home-based business does not need a three-phase service upgrade.
Manual & Compact Ironworkers
Lever-operated and benchtop units shear and punch lighter flat bar and angle at a low price, a good fit for repair shops and fence and gate builders.
Used Ironworkers
Ironworkers are built to last, and well-kept used machines from established builders hold their value. We finance used ironworkers from dealers, auctions and private sellers.
Punch Presses & Notchers
Stand-alone hydraulic punches, punch presses and notchers for shops that need one operation at higher volume.
Sizes We Have Financed
Entry Level
45 to 60 tons
Single-phase machines for welding, repair and ornamental iron shops punching and shearing light angle and flat bar.
General Fabrication
65 to 100 tons
The most popular range: punches 3/4-inch holes in 1/2-inch plate and handles most angle, channel and flat bar a fab shop sees.
Heavy Duty
120 to 150 tons
Large and dual-operator machines for structural steel, trailer and heavy equipment fabricators.
Not sure what tonnage you need? Your equipment dealer can match the machine to your thickest material and largest hole, and we will finance what they recommend.
Finance the Whole Setup
Much of an ironworker’s value comes from its tooling and attachments. These can all be included in the same agreement:
- Round, oblong and square punch and die sets
- Press brake attachments and 4-way dies
- Pipe and tube notchers
- Channel, rod and specialty shear blades
- Back gauges, work tables and lights
- Freight, rigging and installation
Why Shops Add an Ironworker
Replace Saws and Drill Presses
One ironworker shears angle and punches holes in seconds, work that takes several minutes on a saw and a drill press.
Take On Structural and Repair Work
Brackets, base plates, gussets and connection parts can be made in-house instead of bought fabricated or sent out.
Pay for It From the Work
Many of the ironworkers we finance cost less than $40,000. Spread over a few years, the payment is often less than the labor the machine saves each month.
